Walking in Communion With Him

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%2010%3A31&version=NIVg

The question I have been asking myself this week has been, “What is the best way to worship God?” The Spirit has been confirming an answer by giving me 1 Corinthians 10:31, and by sharing Phil Wickham’s “Our God is an Awesome God.”

1 Corinthians 10:31’s emphasis is on the heart as we carry on with life. Our lives should be reflecting that we have the joy of the Lord, that we are honoring Him. That joy comes as we dwell on the awesomeness of the Savior. Like this morning, when I listened to a message of CS Lewis,’ the author brought up the fact of things shifting in us as we thank Jesus.

We end up realizing that we are not alone. We have someone awesome in control. He is not transitory; but, He is always there. It is His desire to have fellowship with us, which is so beautiful.

Let us spend the coming week praising God, and joining in with creation worshipping Him. It is not in whether or not we are feeling wonderful or surrounded by happiness; rather, it is acknowledging that He is worthy of all glory! As CS Lewis stated, praise is not primarily the ending to having things go the way we want them. The attitude of gratitude opens us up to doing what we were created to do, worshipping and having communion with the Creator!

Life in the Spirit

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2032%3A8&version=NIV

This week, in contemplating the April Birthdays of the Family and the beginning of our 21st Anniversary, it made me realize that God brings life and meaning to our years. He is waiting for all of us to slow down and stop trying to figure everything out in our own ability.

Psalm 32:8 is a beautiful passage from the Bible. It is God promising to bring direction in our lives. He reassures us that He will show us what steps to take, because He is our loving Hevenly Father. He is truly an attentive God! He showed us, through the Son, how to live this life. He then proceeded to send His Spirit to be with the following generations.

In reference to the direction of the Spirit, I wanted to share Tauren Well’s new song, “Breathe on It.” It really is the place God wants us to be at, seeking the Spirit’s help in not following our own understanding.  We need to put aside the unfruitful pursuit of our own satisfaction.

We should hunger and thirst to know what the Spirit is wanting to share with us. He has not forgotten us, or stopped caring. That is the old man, with the pride of believing he knows everything.  Let us look forward to what is going to be revealed to us, for the inspiration to go on.  Amen!7

The Passage of Time

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ecclesiastes%203%3A1&version=NIV

If you are anything like me, the passage of time can leave a person anxious and depressed. While attempting to find a Bible verse on this subject, I came across Ecclesiastes 3:1. This is a reminder that everything that happens in our lives has a placing by God. Along with this assurance, the Lord placed Britt Nicole’s song “All this Time” on my heart to share.  This brought me to tears, thinking about how God truly has been there for me all my life!

When I read the above verse, the Spirit was telling me that there is a reason for everything happening under Heaven. It should encourage us of the fact that there is a particular reason for what the Lord allows to come our way; Romans 8:28 shares that God utilizes all things for our good.

I praise Him that He is all wise, and knows the perfect timing for occurrences. I wanted to encourage us to trust His ways, and to pray for His will to line up with Heaven’s, Matthew 6:10. The creator is in control.

Even though we are all aging, Jesus knows what’s best for family members. Tomorrow my Husband, Sister, and Aunt will be celebrating another year God has blessed them with. Let us all be thankful for life, and let us be mindful of using our time for His glory, Ephesians 5: 15-16. Amen!

Having Perserverance

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2012%3A2&version=NIV

I don’t know about you; but, there are many days that it feels like it is impossible to continue on!  The body is too worn out physically; or, the Enemy has buffeted the mind/soul. The good news is, for God’s children, that is not the ending to the story.

In Hebrews 12:2, it shares the awesome fact that Christ has gone before us. He has made our faith in Him something we can be assured of.  He has overcome sin and the grave, and is with God the Father.  He has turned a situation of humiliation into the victorious invitation to the Wedding Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:6-9).

Those of you who do not have a relationship with Jesus, please take the time to ask for His filling. He is there to share His love for you, and to give you direction in your life. This life wasn’t meant for mankind to live alone. The Savior is waiting.

Finally, let us remember the words in Rylie Clemmons’ song, He Will Never Stop Fighting For Me. It is beautiful to know we have a friend that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). We may have limited strength in our bodies, and many people will fail us; but, Christ never will! He has given us the Spirit’s promise of being with us until the end, 1 Corinthians 1:8. He will keep us. Let us look for Him, expectantly.   Maranatha!

Resting in His Arms

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaiah%2026%3A3&version=KJV

In my walk with the Lord, He has been gently reminding me of the peace and security there is in Him; please meditate on Isaiah 26:3 and listen to the link to Phil Wickham’s, In Jesus’ Arms. Who or what are we placing first in our lives?

That soul-searching question can be answered by asking the Lord to search our hearts, Psalm 139:23-24. The Psalmist brought up an issue with God that was heavy on my mind.  The issue has been one of getting rid of hindrances in the walk with Christ.

For me, and I am sure it is the same for you readers, the hindrance in my growth with the Lord is the faith/trust area.  My fears have put a barrier in the way of experiencing perfect peace and stability. This thought inspires me to share a couple of times the Spirit spoke to me.

The first thing that is entering my thoughts has been the numerous times I have had issues sleeping.  In those instances, the Spirit quieted my panic with the beautiful thought that He wanted to talk to me. When I proceeded to talk to God and turn my troubled heart and mind over to Him, I eventually ended up experiencing the peace to fall asleep.  The frustrations in our lives can be turned into making us into better individuals (Romans 8:28).  Secondly, I wanted to share what the Family experienced with Mom.  Her confusion and fears were helped more by her seeking the Spirit’s filling, even more than groups at the psychiatric hospital! Let us put God first this week and rest in His arms!  God bless as you trust the Savior!

Trust…He Will Do Good!

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%203%3A5-6&version=NIV

I want to start this blog/devotional with wishing everyone a blessed Resurrection Day!  My heart sings along with Chris Tomlin in How Good It Is.  As we walk through this life, let us remember that God does right and is in control.  We do not have to fret.

Even when Heaven is quiet, it does not mean that God has forgotten us.  I am thinking about a statement I heard from a pastor, which Corrie Ten Boom made.  She brought up a poem about a weaver weaving a tapestry. Life was being compared to a tapestry, where all we see is the underside.  In actuality, a beautiful piece of art is being created.

The Lord is not done with what He has started in our lives, Phillipians 1:6. Just like He was faithful to live His word of rising again, John 2:19-22, He will accomplish everything we place before Him that is Godly.

Every day, we as Christians need to start the day offering ourselves to Him as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1). As my husband and I were discussing this morning, we will be making the Lord happy by having a close relationship and not be wasting time on our own. Let us follow Proverbs 3:5-6, by trusting God with ourselves. He is good and loves us!

The Goodness of God

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%2011%3A6&version=NIV

Amen and Amen, to both Romams 11:6 and to Matthew West’s Good.  This hit home to me, due to the fact that I asked the Lord into my life at abour 3 or 5 years of age. When you are brought up in a Christian family, you sometimes lean towards feeling like you have to live up to a flawless standard.  In our walk with God, He lovingly reminds us that it comes down to His being good.

His goodness releases us from being chained to the pressure of keeping the law in our own strength (Romans 7:15-25). When we let the Spirit move, focusing on abiding in His love, we will find our evil nature overcome by His goodness. God doesn’t want us operating with a heavy weight on our shoulders.  He wants us to remember how He bore the cross on His shoulders for us.  I was reminded of this as I heard a sermon this Palm Sunday.

The pastor brought up the cute fact that donkeys have a cross shape on their backs.  It is a reminder that the Savior was carried on a donkey in preparation for His crucifixion day.  God writes His reminders into His creation, hosanna to His name!

I praise God He spoke to me this Sunday uplifting me with His goodness!  May we go through this week with our praises on our tongues. He is good and is in love with us. Have a blessed week as you focus on God!

Care and Revelation of God

https://biblehub.com/psalms/43-3.htm

Once again, the Lord was reminding me that He is with us. In Psalm 43:3, it mentions that His light and truth will point us to where He abides; His Spirit will reveal the areas that God is in. Lauren Daigel sings about asking God to come to us, in Light of the World.

That message is focused on during Christmas, which should be done, when Emmanuel came to our world. The truth is that He is everlasting, and is the same God today as He was then. Yes, today the Lord is not physically with us in flesh but in Spirit.

As we cry out to God, His Spirit will be there to illuminate the darkness and despair that tends to creep in.  We will be given insight to His character.  We will begin to understand how much He cares for us. All He wants is for us to seek His face.

This week, may we experience the peace and wisdom He is offering. He is so gracious! Let us spend time fellowshipping with the Saviour.  When we do, we will become living testimonies. God bless you!

God Establishes our Ways

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2037%3A23-24&version=NIV

Psalm 37:23-24, shares how God is the one who holds and sustains us. It is important that we find satisfaction in obeying Christ.  When we look back on our past, we will see where the Spirit was leading and smiling down upon us.  I have experienced that in my life at work.  I may not have an easy time getting up at 4:30am each day, but do see the Spirit’s honoring of my efforts.

As I share about Christ being the center of our lives, I wanted to share Phil Wickham’s, It’s Always Been You. I then wanted to give a shout out to my father, Michael Honeycutt, who has been a testimony to this fact.  Throughout his 78 years, God has called Dad to Himself, enabling him to raise two daughters and being there for Mother throughout health struggles.

The truth about life is that it will not always be an easy road; but, Christ is there to pick us up when we fall. Just because we fall or have a setback, it doesn’t mean it is the end to our story.  God is faithful to complete what He starts (Phillipians 1:6). What an awesome God we serve!

This week, may we spend it dwelling on the greatness of God. We will only experience disappointment and weariness trying to accomplish everything in our own strength. Let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, amen (Hebrews 12:2)!
