James 2:5 NIVUK – Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: – Bible Gateway https://share.google/IvcBWAGKqbUe9SHEh
James 2:5 brings up the fact that God has selected those who are not well off to experience His riches, through faith. When I read this verse, it brought to mind what Christ said through the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:3. The poor in spirit will experience the Kingdom of Heaven. The act of being emptied opens a person for accepting the goodness of God.
That goodness is voiced in Cece Winan’s, “Goodness of God.” I talked about this song before, but have to attach it this week… God is so good! I guess we as people have to come to the point of being humbled. In that humbleness, Christ uses it for an opportunity to exhalt us. Yes, we csn Amen Cece in proclaiming He is good!
When we look back on our past, we are able to see how He has been our Father and closer than a friend. It increases our faith by reflecting on His faithfulness. We need to clothe ourselves in His righteousness.
When walking in this world, God has been good in providing His Armor. It involves putting on the Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes of the Gospel of Peace, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, and using the Sword of the Spirit. While the world puts on their Halloween costumes, let us clothe ourselves with the above. May God bless us as we follow Him!
